Hello, my name is Donna Churchill. This is my twelfth year at Captain John L. Chapin High School and my nineteenth year with the district. I graduated from The University of Texas@Dallas with a Bachelor of Arts in Government/Politics and a lifetime Teaching Certification in English for Secondary Education. During the 2016-2017 school year I will be teaching English III (American Literature), English IV (British Literature), and English IV-AP. I am from Mississippi and grew up a military brat (my father was in the United States Army) so we moved around quite a bit. I am a proud Native American (Cherokee/Choctaw), Scots-Irish, Cajun, and Scandinavian; this mixture has an influence on the literature studied as well as my classroom management and style. I am also a huge LSU fan and football fanatic which is evident in the room décor. I take to heart the LSU motto of “Love Purple/Live Gold”: regardless of what color you love, make sure you live gold. You will be successful in school; more importantly, you will be successful in life.
