Sergeant First Class (U.S. Army Retired) Jesus Sanchez Jr, is a native of New Braunfels, TX. Currently serving as the Army Instructor (AI) as Capt. John L. Chapin High School, El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) in El Paso, Texas. Prior to his arrival at Chapin High School, he served as the Army Instructor at William H. Burges High School, El Paso, Texas for eleven years. SFC Sanchez served honorably in the United States Army for 20 years.

Upon his graduation from high school SFC Sanchez enlisted into the United States Army in June 1981, with Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Bliss, Texas. He served a total of 20 years of service in various positions, such as Nike Hercules Electric Mechanic Maintenance, Nuclear Weapon Specialist, and Patriot Missile Crewmember and geographical locations both stateside and overseas.

He attended several courses while on active duty: Nuclear Biological and Chemical Defense, Primary Leadership Development Course, Instructor Training, Basic Non-commissioned Officers Course, Advanced Non-commissioned Officers Course.

SFC Sanchez’s awards and decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (7th Award), Army Achievement Medal (6th Award), Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star (BSS), Non-commissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award), Kuwait Liberation Medal (K).

Civilian Education: Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice, El Paso Community College,

Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice, University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) on Dec 2016.    


The mission of JROTC is to motivate young people to be better citizens.
